Flooded Trees
Last Saturday's flood at Kingston was recorded only a few hours after the overflow had spread from the Millstone River into a pedestrian/bicycle tunnel that goes beneath the new Route 27. The long shadows and reflections made a striking picture as I walked away from the parking lot. The river had crested only a few hours before.

The tunnel provides a safe method of crossing beneath a busy highway, but it is not always a dry path. The other side is a flat flood plain that sometimes blossoms into a sea of spring wildflowers, so I shall return in about month for further photos after this ample watering.

What appears like a spotlight projected onto the scene is really an inverted reflection in the water. This would be too deep for comfortable wading. While the air temperature was in the 40s, there were still a few places with unmelted ice from the previous week's storm. It was colder than it looks, and this week has been very frigid.
